Cyanobacteria and algae from biofilm at the entrance zone of Petnica Cave

چکیده

The importance of biofilms in caves, the diversity microorganisms them, their mutual relationship and with substratum are among advancing research topics microbial biospeleology. This is making contribution to knowledge about at cave entrances phototrophic communities them. In that manner, from entrance zone Petnica Cave were examined. Light microscopy showed cyanobacteria exclusively dominant phototrophs (34 taxa out 39 total recorded) coccoid forms prevailing (28 taxa); simple trichal present a lesser extent, while heterocytous ones completely absent. Genera Gloeocapsa, Chroococcus,Gloeothece Leptolyngbya most diverse. Four green algal genera characteristic for aerophytic habitats (Apatococcus, Desmococcus, Haematococcus Trentepohlia) also recorded, Bacillariophytawere observed sporadically. Three groups sampling sites distinguished based on recorded taxa, richness similarity, using non-metric multidimensional scaling (NMDS). Quantitative biofilm characteristics assessed - content chlorophyll (Chl a) was determined, as well contents water, organic inorganic matter. Chl had significant positive correlation matter (r=0.904, P=0.013).

Effects of Roadway and Traffic Characteristics on Accidents Frequency at City Entrance Zone

More than 60% of accidents in Iran occur within 30 kilometers of cities entrance roads. Therefore the number of accidents per kilometer in these regions, in contrast to the other parts of roads is very considerable. The city of Tehran, as the capital of Iran, is the cross point of major arterials of passenger and freight transportation. Thus the evaluation of road safety, entering and exiting t...

Herbicides and insecticides effects on green algae and cyanobacteria strain

The toxic effects of herbicides (Machete, Saturn) and pesticides (Diazinon and Malathion) on green algae, Scenedesmus obtusiusculus, and cyanobacteria, Anabaena flos aquae, were studied. The results indicated that Machete and Saturn, in comparison to Diazinon and Malathion, were more toxic. On the other hand it was revealed that green algae was more sensitive to the pesticides than the cyanobac...

Epipelic cyanobacteria and algae: a case study from Czech ponds

The present paper focuses on the epipelic cyanobacteria and algae (particularly desmids). Altogether 45 sediment samples were taken at ponds covering a pH/conductivity and trophic gradients. Statistic evaluation based on environmental variables measured, divided localities into four major groups differing also by sediment quality and its algal flora. Altogether 39 cyanobacterial species were fo...
